How it Works

As women, many of us are locked in anxiety, fear, anger, depression, despair, or hopelessness.  We constantly fight off negative thoughts or repeat patterns of behavior, no matter how hard we try to stop them.  We want to feel joy, peace, and hope.  We might even know that these are promised to us by God.  However, they seem to elude us.

Both psychology and the Bible tell us that if we want to change our behaviors or how we feel, we must change how we think.  Currently, our way of thinking may be faulty.  It has been twisted by trauma, scarred by shame, paralyzed by pain.  However, our thinking does not have to stay the same, nor do we. Instead, we can seek Truth in Thought and experience radical change.

The Lie

What is the Truth

As women, we struggle in our lives and our thoughts because we believe a lie. The lie may be about ourselves or God.

Some common lies women tell themselves are . . .

  • If people only knew the real me, they would reject me

  • If I want something, I have to get it for myself (control the situation)

  • No one could really love me

  • I am too guilty, too dirty, too ashamed

  • I’m not enough

Believing that all truth is God’s truth, I draw from therapies and treatments developed through the modern field of psychology as well as Biblical teachings.  This is called an integrated approach. For example, psychology’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy proposes that to change our behaviors or emotions, we must first change our thinking.  This is consistent with the instruction in scripture.

I will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan based on your needs and your goals so that you can achieve what you seek.  You can learn to replace the lies you believe with God’s truth. You can heal from the trauma of the past.  You can improve the life you live in the present.  You can have hope for the future.

My Faith Journey

I was raised in the Catholic church, observing my mother’s deep faith in God. However, growing up, I did not know much about God and His role in my life. For twenty-plus years, I have been a member of a non-denominational Christian church and would consider myself an evangelical or biblical Christian.

Not a Christian?  Not sure about God?

Not a problem! Everyone is on their own path of development.  We all have different life experiences, and growth looks different for everyone.  If you are open to sharing your problems, I am open to discussing them with you.  In our initial assessment we can discuss your preferences regarding how much scripture and/or prayer is part of your treatment sessions.  However, it is important for you to know that the Bible is the center of my life and any treatment I provide will be consistent with Biblical values.

Why I Do This

Why I Can Relate to You

Having been a public speaker and corporate trainer for thirty years, I have learned to convey complex and difficult information in a way that can be understood. For fifteen of those years, I have been participating in women’s events, hearing ladies share their lives and their concerns.  Often, we have had difficulty finding enough female Christian counselors who were available to help them walk through their crisis.  Therefore, I determined to become the resource that was lacking in our community by completing a Masters in Human Services Counseling (5/25).  Now in addition to speaking to groups of women, I am privileged to meet with them one-on-one. Together, we pursue the healing and the joy missing from their lives.

I often tell people that I have broken all ten commandments and most of the suggestions. Very little comes up in treatment that I have not thought, done, or experienced. Many of us suffer because of what we have done.
